Finished it 2 hours ago: 700 (90%) (Q:44/70% V:41/92%)

I know that the result is not too bad. But I'm nonetheless a little disappointed. I scored 710 in my first GMAT Prep before I even started studying.

My score in the second GMAT Prep was 740 after 4 weeks of studying (three days before d-day). I repeated the first test and scored 760 one day before the actual test.

I was quite surprised that my verbal score was much better in every test than my quant score, since I always considered myself strong in math (and am not a native speaker, as you probably figured out already ).

The materials I used:

OG 11
OG Quant
OG Verbal
Kaplan 800 (didn't have time for the math section)
MGMAT SC

I spent around 4 weeks with studying. However I think I took the test a little to easy. One week before the test I spent a long weekend in Prague with my girlfriend and I moved to a new city one day before the test.

Beyond that I think the real test contains much more "logical" questions than there are in OG11/OG Quant/GMAT Prep. By these I mean questions you just know or don't know. I had to guess every second to third questions, because I just didn't know how to attack it.

From what I've read in other posts I will most probably not repeat the test. However, I do not have to decide this yet since I won't start BSchool before 2010.

Thanks to every member of the forum. Although hardly wrote sth. here, I was often reading and enjoying the "I just Beat The GMAT!" stories.

How'd you manage a 42 V??

Honestly, I don't know. I started with learning for the verbal section because I thought that this was my weak point. However, as I learned from the GMAT Prep tests I was doing much worse in the quant section. Therefore I quit learning for the verbal part and concentrated on math.

But even though I didn't practice it anymore I scored an 48 in my second GMAT Prep1 (38/41 questions correct). Although it might sound funny, I think am quite good in Verbal because I'm NOT a native speaker and thus have a very analytical approach to the language.

I am not a native speaker and find the verbal much more to my liking than the quant. I recently took a online Kaplan CAT and scored a 42 on verbal and a 48 on quant. I was struggling immensely through the quant, often feeling defeated by questions. I didn't even manage to finish the section, having only gotten through question 32. Speed appears to be a problem of mine now, although doing math problems quickly had always been one of my greatest strengths. What happened???

I guess you scored 42 in the quant section? Well, I think scoring a 42 without even finishing the section is quite good. You'll probably be fine if you do some more practice on the question.

But beside the pacing problem (everything went perfect in all my tests thanks to the timer posted elsewhere on the board) I had similar experiences as you. I had to guess every third question or so in the real test. I just didn't know how to attack some of those logic questions. This was much worse than in my Prep Tests, because I had more of these questions in the real one.

However, I read from a couple of people that the Kaplan CATs do not really present the level of difficulty of the real test. So you'll probably be fine. And after all a 42/48 result is quite good and will bring you probably into the 700s.
