5^12 + 5^13 =

A. 5^25
B. 10^25
C. 6(5^12)
D. 10^12 + 5
E. 2(5^12) + 5
Answer: C

Since there is no rule on adding exponents, what is the trick for solving this kind of problem? Thanks.

Take the common factor out - 5^12

5^12 (1+5) = 5^12 * 6

5^12 + 5^13 = 5^12(1 + 5) = 6(5^12)

Correct Answer: C.
