Disappointing score 490 ..(Q 39/V 20)

by lazylark » Thu Dec 22, 2011 2:14 am
hi all,
Today I took my first GMAT test. I am pretty disappointed
I don't denay that I made many mistakes. This includes
My preparation too . I didn't go through mock tests studied
Roughly for 2 weeks. In the exam timing was a issue for me
I was slower and had to take guesses.

Do I have any chances getting into any college with this score
If u take test next time when should I take, this time what better
Can I do apart from doing complete mock tests and lots of practice
I clearly noticed that timing, SC were my strong weekpoints during the
Exam.. Is there a way to get out for someone like me.

Hi LazyLark,

To retake the test you would have to wait for 31 calendar days. Now that you have a baseline score your challenge is to do better than that and if you think you could not do any better read this post (https://www.beatthegmat.com/gmat-720-95- ... t7227.html) and you would realize that anybody can beat the GMAT. You would have to have a planned approach to preparation and just stick to a schedule.

All the best and know that you can do a lot better and there are lot of people around here to guide and clarify any doubts you might have.

With Best Wishes

With a 490, you might be able to get into an unranked state school like San Jose State University, provided you have a decent college GPA (3.5) .

I got the same exact score as you when I took the GMAT 6 months ago.

Here's what I am doing to prep for the GMAT: Taking 4 math classes, re-studying for the GMAT in a few years, and re-taking it. But then again, I am looking for a 720.
