dam problem

A certain dam regulates the volume of water that flows through its floodgates by reducing the area through which water can pass. Does the dam normally allow at least 30% of the maximum volume of water that can pass to flow through?

(1) The maximum volume of water that can pass through the floodgates is three times the volume which is normally allowed to flow through.

(2) The area through which water is allowed to pass is normally less than one third of maximum.

a Normal = 10 Max = 30

30% of Max = 9. As 10>9, hence sufficient.

b Area|max = 30, Area| normal = 1-9.

30% of Max = 9. As the Q stem says at-least 30% meaning Normal >= 9.

thus not sufficient.

Option A
Option 1 ensures 33.33%

option 2 says it is less than 33.33% so it could be more than 30 i.e. 32 or less than 30% i.e. 28%

Option A
Stmt 1- maximum volume allowed is 3 times the volume normally allowed to flow through. This means the volume normally allowed is 1/3rd of 33.33%, which is greater than 30%. So, A is sufficient.

when watering your garden and when you cover the tube 'outlet area' with thumb only the force increases but the volume released at the start of tube from tap will reach the plants.

Hope my analogy makes sense...
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..

2) is < 33%

That kills B C E and D.
