2 weeks done, 12 more to go

by mriiidula » Mon Jul 04, 2011 7:16 am
Hello everyone,

I've just finished about two weeks of prep. I've read the PowerScore CR Bible (started with this), and then answered around 10 questions on the CR section of this forum (of which I think I got 9 correct). I then started and finished Veritas Prep RC, not the problems bit but the strategy bit. I have also done the first 10 problems as I was learning (got them all correct).

I did all the questions untimed, though.

I've planned on doing problems from OG Review and OG Verbal for CR, and problems from OG Review+OG Verbal+Veritas Prep for RC. I'll be doing 5 problems a day, every alternate day or so for CR, and 7 problems a day, every alternate day for RC. This way, I would finish each and every RC and CR problem by the beginning of October.

Meanwhile, I've started MGMAT Sentence Correction Guide.

Is that a decent study plan? I know it seems like I'm going a bit too fast, but once I start work in a week or so, obviously I wont have so much time. So I'm trying to do as much as possible when I'm free.

Do let me know what you guys think.

Depending on your hectic (or not) schedules, you should be able to judge whether this works for you. But I would recommend doing more than that a day. (I have assumed that you will only do 5-7 problems in total for a day).

Have you taken a test date?
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

Well yea, my plan is to do about 5-7 problems a day until I finish with SC, then SC problems will be added to those as well.

Thanks for your reply, yea I needed someone else's opinion to know whether I'm doing too much or too little.

My test date is 14th October.

It's just fine what you have planned. You should always keep in mind that it does n't matter how many question you solve in a day, but what matters is what TAKEAWAYS you gather from each question so that you can apply the same on the test day.REVISE! REVISE! REVISE! all you have studied till now. One more thing is working on your error log(if you are maintaining any). Concentrate on mistakes you have been doing and try to avoid it. Study smart -not hard. Stay focused through out the remaining 12 days and till the moment you hit "see your score" button. Kool mind always performs better than you can ever imagine. Lastly, trust yourself ! Good Luck!!!

Thanks. Yea I know about the takeaways, but the more you practice the more likely you are to come across something new, or something that you haven't seen before right? Besides, working on all the questions in the OG is a must, isn't it.

I mean quantity does matter when you have say 2-3 months left. With 8 days left you can concentrate on quality problems, work on timings, maintain a good reading habit etc. By now, you should know what are your strengths & weaknesses so it should be Ok! if you are consistently scoring your target score in mocks. Anyways do follow what you think will keep you alert and confident throughout after all different strategies work differently for different people.
