Veritas Practice Tests Accuracy

Hi,

I took the Veritas GMAT Practice Tests recently. Following are my scores. However, I'm not exactly sure of the accuracy of these tests. I don't exactly know how much score to expect on the real GMAT. I am planning to take the GMAT in a week. Please let me know how much score I can expect on the real test on the basis of my scores in the Veritas Practice Tests.


680 - 48Q 36V
660 - 50Q 31V
680 - 49Q 35V
710 - 50Q 37V
700 - 50Q 36V

Hey! I'm eagerly awaiting a reply from someone at Veritas. It will help me decide whether to take the exam next week or not. My target score is 700+.

As with any practice tests, your score range is never a "guarantee" of how you'll perform on test day. Plenty of factors - how you perform under the actual pressure of test day, the margin of error on practice test scores in general, etc. - can affect the official score. But if you're scoring in that range with that trend there's at least a very good likelihood that you can achieve your 700+ goals.

You may want to dig a little deeper, though, especially if your practice test scores are just about exactly where your goals are without much margin for error. Do you see tangible areas (question types, concept areas, mistake minimization) that you know you could stand to improve if you had a little more time? Are there certain things you're just really hoping you don't see on test day because you just don't feel ready for them? Are there patterns in your practice test results that suggest that you may need a little more prep in an area? If you know deep down that you're not quite ready on ________________, then it's not a bad idea to delay and make sure you clean that up. If you're kind of at a loss as to what you'd do with extra time, you're probably ready to go.

Hi there,

I took the GMAT and scored a 640 (Q49 28V). I still can't believe I screwed up Verbal so bad. I was confident after the Quant section. But for some reason I wasn't able to comprehend the Verbal questions fully and hence ended up taking too much time on each question (including SC's which I would solve in 1.5 mins max at home). Im really shocked and disheartened at my Verbal score. My scores in Verbal in the Veritas practice tests were consistently from 35 to 37 (except for 1 test in which I got 31). I'm not able to understand why this happened. I should have probably told myself to focus harder before the Verbal section started. Please suggest some measures that I should keep in mind before my next attempt which will be in a month or two. Also, let me know how to go about planning my next attempt.

Can someone please guide me a little. I wanted to understand what are the things I can improve in verbal for my next attempt. Also, I feel I was really drained out after the Quant section. My mind couldn't really comprehend alot of the stuff in the Verbal section. One reason could be that I was empty stomach. I ate a very light meal around 2 and my test was at 3. So by the time I started the Verbal section I was pretty drained out. I didnt have anything to eat or drink during the 8 min break after the Quant section. Having said that, I think I need to improve my verbal overall.

Hey Nakul,
As a person who has attempted a GMAT in the past ,I can completely understand from where this is coming.By the time you reach the verbal you are "definitely exhausted".
I postponed my exam because I was not getting the required score on the practice tests.To be really sure that you would cross the 700+ score you should be able to do that on multiple practice tests.Also Like Brian Gelvin of Veritas will tell you "practice as you would play".Not that I have completely imbibed that mantra myself ,but I am trying to.Always do the verbal section after a long study session when your mind is not able to concentrate that is when you are training for the actual test day.
Verbal looks more daunting because it comes at the end of the test,otherwise I am sure with a 640 you already have your basics in place, it is only practice in test like conditions that will make you confident and help in increasing your score.
