Hi all, would really appreciate some help here.

Just took the 2nd test on GMATPrep. Got only 5 wrong but somehow scored only 42 (see attached screenshot). Earlier questions all correct and wrong ones fairly spread out.

I'm not sure why this is so. Even if I got some difficult ones wrong, score would have too high in the beginning of test (long string of correct answers) for it to fall so low?

On the other hand, I got 12 wrong in quantitative and somehow scored 49.

Anyone?

A 42 is a very high score!

If I remember correctly I got 6 wrong and scored a 41. There's no way to really know how the CAT system thinks.

It should be noted that the highest verbal scores tend to be lower than the highest attainable Math scores.

I started reviewing my mistakes. Is there a way to look at my verbal and quant scores along with overall percentil.e

42 in Verbal

I believe a 42 in Verbal is a 95 percentile which is a very good score.

a 42 in Verbal and a 49 in Quant would definitely put you in the 720-740 range.

4 wrongs in verbal = 45 :(

Same with me. I took GPREP2 and had 1 mistake in the first 25 questions and 2 to 4 evenly spreadout after that but still scored 45.. is this accurate ??
On the same exam, my quant had 10 wrongs and the score was 49.. I am confused ! Q49 V 45 (760).

Don't compare the quant and verbal scores but rather the percentiles they correspond to:

45 verbal has a higher percentile (98) than 50 quant (95)

The GMAT simply likes to reward verbal overachievers (top 0.2%) with a 50 or 51.

A 42 might seem unfair with only 5 mistakes, but were your mistakes all of the same type? If they were all SC or all RC or all CR, then there's a good reason why your score is down!

That's a complete normal score since what matters most is the individual difficult of each question.
In one of my GMATPREP attempts I got 40 in verbal with 7 wrong answers: 1 RC, 1CR and 5SC. So it seems that I got a lot (relatively speaking) 700-level SC questions wrong, driving down my verbal score.
