which clause modifies the noun before it - Agreed.

Appositive is a modifier which is synonymous to the object it modifies.

Ex: Kelly, the girl, is beautiful.

Here Kelly and the girl are appositives.

Which means, both sentences are correct.

Kelly is beautiful.

The girl is beautiful.
