You ask a really important question. Thankfully, the answer is clear and simple - the OG (and each of the corresponding Official materials) states that "straight lines" should be considered to be straight lines (even if they are diagonal lines). In other words, we're meant to assume that AE and BF ARE straight lines.
From the picture, you might be tempted to assume that angleP is greater than angleR, but THAT is not necessarily the case.
