At a loading dock, each worker on the night crew loaded 3/4 as many boxes as each worker on the day crew.If the night crew has 4/5 as many workers as the day crew, what fraction of all the boxes loaded by the two crews did the day crew load?

A. 1/2
B.2/5
C.3/5
D.4/5
E.5/8

OA is E

I am confused about the explanation given in the OG..So can you provide a better explanation to solve this problem?

I picked numbers.

Lets say Day crew loads 20 boxes per 1 worker.
Then the night crew loads 3/4 * 20 = 15 boxes per worker.
Lets say day crew has total 20 workers.
Then the night crew has total 4/5 * 20 = 16 workers.

Important to know what the question is asking.

"what fraction of all the boxes loaded by the two crews"
total boxes loaded by the two crews is
Day Crew = 20*20= 400 boxes
Night crew = 15 * 16 = 240 , Total is 640

"did the day crew load"?
which is 400

Ans: 400 / 640 = 5/8
