At first glance one would think that the sentence is checking for idiom as ----- as . But having a closer look proves this assumption wrong .

In option C as much as would mean comparison between the advent of computer-based recording and "ping-ponging . But that is not what the intended meaning is .

Another important thing to note is the use of time indicator PRESENT PERFECT has not been used . So we need some thing in the sentence that would indicate that things started in PAST and continues .

Only one option dose that B . "as much since "

SINCE tells us that after the invention of "computer-based recording" the technique of "ping-ponging" was not used much .



Option D and E also express the idea but we have a far better option B as compared to D and E .

Please correct me if I am wrong .

In the sentence quoted however, "as much" is used to indicate the number of times the technique of ping-ponging has been used. It is not used to indicate a comparison.

We use "since" when we refer to the time when the action started, for example: last year, last semester, the invention of plastic, the beginning of mankind, etc. Thus (B) clearly conveys that the technique of ping-ponging has not been used as much (enough/as many times) since the advent of computer-based recording.
