A certain bookstore sells paperback and hardcover books. The ratio of paperbacks to hardcovers in stock is 3:2. How many paperbacks and hardcovers are in stock?

1) 1/3 of the paperbacks in stock are non-fiction.

paperback : hardcover = 3:2
How many paperbacks and hardcovers are in stock?

1) 1/3 of the paperbacks in stock are non-fiction.
This information is not relavant. This will lead us to nowhere. A is insufficient.

2) There are 20 more paperbacks than hardcovers in stock.
paperbacks = 20+ hardcovers
P = 20 + H

P/H = 3:2
P = 20 + H
(20 + H)/H = 3/2

H = 40
P = 60
P/H = 60/40 = 3/2

B is sufficient
