An executive MBA question

by grovecane » Wed Jun 03, 2009 6:08 am
I have applied to a number of Executive MBA programs for the fall of 2009. I have been accepted to three programs and I am waiting on my top choice, Kellogg.

Would someone with some expreience in MBA admissions please advise me what I should do next? I feel that I need to respond to the MBA programs to which I have been accepted, but I won't hear from Kellogg for another couple of weeks.

How do I keep the three programs in a holding pattern while I wait for the final yes/no from Kellogg? I don't want to burn any bridges.

Thanks in advance.

Dear grovecane,

Congratulations on your offers of admission! There is nothing wrong with being honest, although it can be risky at times. If you have deadlines for the other schools before you will hear from Kellogg, then you have a couple of options. You can go ahead and put down a deposit at your first choice of the three and cut the other two loose. Or, you can try to ask for an extension on the deposit(s). Since it is already June, many schools will not grant an extension on the deposit. Thus you need to probably go ahead and make a decision on the offers you have to decide where you will go among those three.

Good luck,
Lisa
