(A) them attempting to do it
(B) their attempts to do so
(C) them attempting to do so
(D) the fact that they have attempted to do it
(E) their attempts to do it

The correct ans is b but u think it should be c because their is a possessive pronoun?

It cannot be C. "them" is not a proper usage here. "them" is an objective case, meaning the pronoun refers to the object and not the subject.

Subject here is "doctors". And, the pronoun must properly refer to the "doctors". So, "them" is inappropriate in this context.

"Their" is the right choice.

"do it" is never right on GMAT. Always use "do so".

will go with B

Do so means an entire action and do "it" has to be something particular like noun
"Single Malt is better than Blended"
