We dont need a that he had.

The Q is testing parallelism and was advised is not underlined meaning all the three need to be in simple past

A is my pick

Clearly B is the only parallel.

B is my answer...

Was is in the sentence ….

So in all the clauses u don’t have to have an extra was. (ELIMINATE A/D/E)
C not parallel as it is using that with told.

The suspect…was …advised………told and interrogated.

Between D and E, I will go with E.

All the 3 actions are not on same logical level. .. " of his right to remain silent, told he could not leave, and was interrogated in a detention room. "

Phrases "of his right to remain silent" and "told he could not leave" are on the same level and should be paralle but "was interrogated in a detention room" is on a different level so should not be parallel to the other 2.

Thanks Bidisha800 , you have clearly explained the answer.

I had picked up E,somehow was tricked with pseudo-parallelism.

This was a great question from Beatthegmat practice questions
