Even though sub-Saharan Africa often evokes images of drought and famine, researchers say that the area is the home of more than 2,000 grains, vegetables, roots, fruits, and other foods that have the possibility for feeding the continent, even other parts of the world.

(A) have the possibility for feeding the continent, even
(B) have the possibility of feeding the continent, even of
(C) could feed the continent, so even with
(D) could feed the continent and even
(E) could possibly feed the continent and, in addition, for even

I know the wrong options are wrong, but I don't know why.

Why are the wrong options wrong?

(A) have the possibility for feeding the continent, even --> even is modifying something which is not clear ..
(B) have the possibility of feeding the continent, even of -->Meaning. even of
(C) could feed the continent, so even with --> so even with --meaning
(D) could feed the continent and even --> cream of the crap ..Whats the OA
(E) could possibly feed the continent and, in addition, for even ----- even is redundant here..it should be in addition , other parts of the world

(B) have the possibility of feeding the continent, even of ( B is also wrong because of what i said above, and because using even of

(E) could possibly feed the continent and, in addition, for even (awkward)

have the possibility can best be expressed by could..

B) same as A
C) 'SO' as conjunction should be followed by independent clause. Also with is not parallel to anything in the other part of the sentence
D) correct
E)could possibly AND in addition are redundant here.

Hence QA is D.
