I am currently reading MGMAT SC guide. In the book they have given the definition of Present Perfect as "An action that started in the past but continuous into the present"

Eg. We have lived in a hut for three days.

My contention is that this definition is of Present Perfect Continuous and ideally the eg. above should be written as

"We have been living in a hut for three days. "

Please explain where am I incorrect, if I am.

Thanks,

Vineet

these would both be legitimate. there are differences, but those differences are very VERY subtle (according to context), probably subtle to the point where you wouldn't ever be tested on them.

if the gmat tests you on the difference between 2 tenses, then it is essentially always the case that one of the tenses is clearly incorrect, while the other is fine.
