Urgent help need for verbal.

by vaishalijain7 » Tue Jun 09, 2009 10:34 am
Hi All,

I am from India and so non native english speaker and preparing since november 2008 for GMAT. My GMAT exam is on 3rd july 09 which is just 3 weeks far. My verbal score in MGMAT CAT is usually 31-34 and in GMATPREP is 23-24. I am very disappointed and could not understand what should I do to pull my verbal score up. If I speed up than got many questions wrong and if I do it slowly it leaves many questions unattempted. Can anybody please suggest me how can I improve my verbal score in 3 weeks? I want to crack just 36 (something near 80 percentile) in verbal section in real GMAT. Recently I gave 2 GMATPREPs and got 6-7 SC, 4 CR, and 9 RC wrong. I got 4 quess wrong out of first 10, 3 next 10, 7 next 10 and 6 last 10.

Thanks,
Vaishali

I just want to add that I am using MGMAT SC, powerscore CR bible, All OGs, MGMAT CATs and GMATPREP for preparation.

Seems like you have all the right books for verbal and do not need any extra resources. I will suggest practicing from sources where there are explanations such as Kaplan 800, beatthegmat forum, gmatclub etc. Now for every explanation take mental and physical notes and double check with your knowledge from manhattan SC, powerscore bible for CR etc. If you do not recollect your concepts then you might have not taken those books seriously and probably need to go over them again bit by bit.
200 or 800. It don't matter no more.
