MBA application is evaluated based on variety of factors as far as my knowledge goes. Its not just restricted to your Work Exp and GPA. Your GMAT score is the most important. A report published by Kaplan Prep reveals this.

1. GMAT the biggest application killer - 48%
2. Low undergraduate score - 33%
3. work exp - 10%

so you got to concentrate on GMAT first coupled with the experiences you had in your work will definitely help you get into the B'Schools which you desire but then you should also not forget about the essays and letters of recommendation which you submit. Those are also very important.

New GMAT is launching in the month of June next year. But if you are planning to go for an MBA next fall, you got to start preparing now and give GMAT and then apply for the colleges before the deadline. HBS has already come out with the application deadlines and the essays for the next fall intake and other colleges also will start displaying their intake details. So you can't wait for the new GMAT. Better start preparing and book your GMAT date in accordance with the deadlines of the BSchools of your choice. Hope this cleared your doubt. :)
