by vijshinde29 » Mon Feb 09, 2009 1:51 pm
Hi,
I am planning to apply for evening MBA.I am targeting score around ~650.I am planning to take GMAT on March 30.

so far I bought followinng books

1. OG GMAT Review
2. OG GMAT Verbal
3. Manhattan GMAT SC
4. ARCO- ESSAY

I also got some other books from local library which include Kaplan,Barrons and PR books.

I am finding a problem to arrange my schedule around this material.

So far my approach is complete review of each section and solve practice questions.

Here are my questions

1. When do I start taking full CAT tests?
2. I am planning to OG but besides OG which other books should I look at
I have Kaplan/Barons and PR?

I am facing an overall problem arraning my material..

Any suggetiosn are well appreciated.

Vijay

This is just my opinion, but I think you should take a practice test once a week during your preparation. It takes a while to get used to the computer adaptive format, and the only way you can get comfortable is practice. Some people think once a week is overkill, but that's my recommendation.

With regard to other references, check out my recommended GMAT books

Good luck!

hi there,

I've also started out preparing for the GMAT and would probably take it by May. Here are my 2 cents....

First if you are from a non technical background then you should consider reviewing the quant part from the OG. Kaplan and MGMAT also provide good resources for MATH review. If you are not a native English speaker the i suggest you go through the MGMAT's SC strategy guide, and review CR from the OG. These reviews will get you started. Once you have reached a point where you are comfortable (doesn't mean GMAT ready) then take the diagnostic tests from the OGs. This will tell you where you stand and what are your weaknesses. Start practicing on your weaknesses for a week but remember to practice questions in your strong areas also from the OG. You can alot one day for during initial weeks for your strongest area and one day from your second and third strongest area and the rest of the days of the week for your week areas.

Note that although the above strategy will bring you to a very comfortable position, do not extend the above for more than a month. After that take the GMATPrep CAT1. And from then on take a CAT test every week. If you have purchased the Manhattan GMAT SC guide then you can access 6 of their CAT tests for free online. Save one GMATPrep for the end (week before the actual GMAT.)

If you want to study along with me check out my blog (in my sig). Its my third week of prep and we can update and motivate each other.

Hope my post would help atleast in a tiny way!!!

- good luck..
