A/B/C - think is missing and not parallel to view.
E - would - past tense is used here which is not right with the usage of 'view' - present tense.

IMO D.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

Its between D and E.
In D, the use of THEY is ambiguous..it can refer to international journalists or nuclear power stations.
In E, would needs to be followed by BE..hence E cannot be correct.

I don't think either option is grammatically correct..but I guess D just wins.

OA and explanation please..Experts help out.
