Hello Dear GMATers,

I took GMAT Prep and scored 490 ( I didn't finish about 7 quant questions). I also took MGMAT and scored 500. Absolutely pissed. I ordered MGMAT books and I start my journey to 680 score today.

My weakness is the verbal since English is my second language. I am hitting the Combination questions right now.

I will be posting every day on my progress. Please bear with me and of course feel free to give me you piece of advice.

Thanks

I am not one for blogging much due to time restraints but I will be following your pursuit to 680 because like you i scored 490 on my first CAT and have set a goal of 680 for myself. I am so focused right now and I am certain I will reach my goal I just have to be persistent.

KingTmo I completely understand. Blogging keeps me focused on the whole process. Sometimes when I don't feel like studying I think, well I'll have nothing to blog about! Hahah...

How are your studies going so far?

Hello All,

My plan for this week was to iron out some of my weaknesses as my score indicated and as suggested by MGMAT. It is fun to work with MGMAT books. Now I will be taking another exam tomorrow. with simulated exam settings. wish me good luck.

I will post my result tomorrow.

Thanks for your feedback and bear with me on my journey.

Hey GMAT680,
I see that you weren't able to finish about 7 quant questions.I think you have good concepts but always try to solve the questions by the formal approach. But an important thing to note is that they are very time-taking.My advice is that :-Whenever you attempt practice tests, try to use elimination techniques and shortcut methods.
Initially, you may find urself searching for the shortcut but once you get acquainted with it ,you will find yourself finishing the quant section in no time.
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

Just because something is hard doesn't mean you shouldn't try,it means you should just try harder.

Hello All,

I just retook the GMATPrep practice exam. The result is devastating. However, I was merely took it to test my stamina to sit 4 hours straight. The score is 37 Quant and 23 verbal = 510. Regardless the number is telling me something. That is I need work hard on my weaknesses and to capitalize on my strength.

Any suggestion or feedback is very welcome.

where do u think u made a mistake ? were u not able to concentrate? were u randomly guessing the answers ?
did u get really nervous ? or was it overall difficult ?

try comparing with ur mock scores. was it the GMAT environment that shook ur confidence ??

what was it ?

GMAT680 don't get caught up with scores in the beginning... you won't see a great improvement over a short period of time... you would be better served if you spent those 4 hours studying material

I do agree with you guys. However, I have to get used to sitting four hours since I have about a month before my exam. I am studying for 2.5 - 3 hours every day. One hour at my lunch break, one hour while waiting for my ride and another 30 minutes to 1 hour at home.

I did review sentence correction. I worked on MGMAT sentence correction. once I did their drill I also practiced from OG guide. The thing that I liked MGMAT over others is that they let you practice with the official guide and the questions are filter to a very specific topic even within SC.

My plan for tomorrow is to work on some data sufficiency on basic number theory. I think I have been underestimated the quant section and its time to work with basic number theory and work on real GMAT exam.

See you tomorrow and your feedback is always welcome as usual.
