Hi All,
This is my "Come-Back" to MBA prep after 3 years. 3 years ago the events that conspired before I took GMAT were nothing short of a Bollywood Pot-Boiler.
First I book a date and as it is coming close, my company decides to send me to Italy on a project for 3 months. So I postpone my date and return to learn that I have to travel to France for 3 months again. I cancel the appointment. I come back, prepare and score a cool 750 in the GMATPrep Test just 2 days prior to my G-Day. Then I get turned away from the test centre as my name doesn't match on the ID, plus I learn that i will have to fore-go the full fees and take an appointment again. And since the application deadline is fast approaching, i book my date in hurry and I end-up scoring a pathetic 620 (a 6 in AWA to go with it). I apply anyway, but don't get a look in. My dreams get shattered. Some story that...!!!!
Now 3 years hence, I have moved on my life, have a decent career progression to show, know what I want now but yet to take the GMAT (again!!). Here is my profile:
1) Mechanical Engineer by profession, with 72 months of experience working with an Automotive Firm as a Senior Designer.
2) 620 GMAT + 6 AWA : Gotta take that damn test again.
3) Decent Acads
4) Decent Extra-Curriculars
5) Active volunteer with a social welfare organization.
Now that I have been in the industry for 6 years. I know what I want and where to see myself say 5 yrs down the line. Meeting clients and working in challenging environments in the industry (automotive) that I am passionate abt, I wanna go on n become a sale n marketing guy. So an MBA in marketing or a General MBA for that matter would do. And since i have OLD (6 yrs is OLD), i am looking only at good 1 year MBA programs.
School that I have in MIND :
1) ISB - Doesnt get better than this in India
2) INSEAD - Doesnt get better than this in the World
Since I am not looking at a radical switch in my career to Finance or something. My aim is to stay in this industry and sell stuff.
I would appreciate if anyone can take their time out, read all that i have written here and still have patience to help me.
thanks all in advance..
Cheers,
Kitrak
