Hi,

I'm a 24year old Indian male currently working in the IT industry.I have pretty bad acads and nothing in my profile that sticks out. That being said I'm planning to apply to B-school for the fall of 2014.Here are a list of colleges I'm contemplating applying to:

University of Michigan- Ann Arbor (Ross)
UCLA-Anderson
University of Arizona-Eller
University of California-Irvine
USC-Marshall
Rudgers
Fordham
RIT-Saunders
University of Georgia-Terry

I have 1.8years work exp in IT as a programmer.I've been internally certified a Green Belt in Six Sigma.Have a GPA of 3.1 and a GMAT score of 630 ( 47Q and 32V ).I'm looking for a career change moving into business. How achievable are the schools I've listed and yes,I'm re taking the GMAT.

Any sort of advice you could give at this point,I'd be really grateful as I have only 3months until deadlines.

Thanks in advance.

Advice: Don't apply this year.

Why?

1. You don't have enough work experience
2. Your GMAT can be improved.

There's no rush dude, and it is far FAR better if you take your time and instead concentrate your energies on getting into the best school possible and doing the MBA right! So take your time, retake the GMAT (2-3 times if need be), and in general get more experience before you consider applying.

Hi Jon,

I acknowledge the fact that I don't have the best profile, however, spending time in a career that I'm not passionate about doesn't motivate me enough.By the fall of 2014 I would've anyway had approx 3 years of work exp.And I'm retaking the GMAT in a fortnight. So I was wondering if the colleges I've mentioned are too ambitious? Realistically do I stand a chance?

Thanks in advance.
