How much effect will skipping AWA on mock tests have?

Hi all,

I just finished a mock CAT with GMATPrep - I scored a 690, 48Q/37V. I usually write the AWA before my mock tests, however my time was very limited today so had to skip it. How much of an effect will this have on my overall score?

i.e. should I assume that I would've scored anywhere from 20-30 points lower had I done the AWA to begin with?

Thanks!

Shouldn't be too much. Although I think the analytical part was created to *WEAR* down your stamina before you get to the REAL sections (Q and V). Keep in mind, you were strapped for time which probably meant you where doing this test late at night so consider the day you just went through as 2 big analytical essays! I did the analytical section once out of all of my CAT practices and got the highest score in that one CAT.

Dont sweat it.

Thanks odannyboi. Yeah, the last CAT that I wrote was actually an MGMAT CAT a few weeks ago *with* an AWA and I scored a 700, it's weird how that happens. I wrote my CAT from around 3-5pm today, so I wasn't too tired, but I did write it with a few distractions (a couple of crying babies, people eating chips loudly next to me, etc) so hopefully all that balanced out the lack of AWA this time around.

Thanks!

I fixed a grammatical error in my 1st post.

Yea, you won't have crying babies in the testing center. If there are crying babies, ask the testing center attendant to politely escort them out.

(yea, I know.. I'm a moron..)
