A is my response as "it" clearly refers to the improved efficiency.

Why cannot 'it' refer to 'conversion' of trees.
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..

I think you mean to "converting", which is noun phrase here. But this fact for me does not change the question

Am surprised that OA is B. A seems better. Can you please let us know the source of this question.

Although A may reduce Y, it will stimulate X, thereby boosting consumption. I think "thereby boosting" is wrong.

Thanks kvitkod. Went thru the manhattan link you've provided. The Manhattan instructor also is of the opinion that B should not be the answer.

Actually thereby boosting consumption is a Participial phrase, most suited for these kind of cause (stimulate demand) and effect (boosting consumption) scenarios.

Hi,

The below is my understanding.

Option A implies that improved efficiency is the cause for boost in consumption.

Option B implies that increasing supply and lowering prices are the causes for boost in consumption.

I would also go with option A, as the statement has no flaw in it.

I meant "it" to refer to "improved efficiency in converting harvested trees into wood products", that is the whole segment
