Target question: What is the value of 6x - 10 ?

Statement 1: 3x - 5 = 16
Multiply both sides by 2 to get: 6x - 10 = 32
The answer to the target question is 6x - 10 = 32
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: 12x - 10 = 74
Solve to get x =7
Plug x = 7 into the expression 6x - 10 to get: 6x - 10 = 6(7) - 10 = 32
The answer to the target question is 6x - 10 = 32
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 2 is SUFFICIENT

Answer: D
