Global market researchers have claimed that the recent increase in gasoline prices so that they were the highest price in five years foreshadows little relief from the ongoing petroleum crisis.

What is wrong with D?

Whenever we are comparing more than two things we are supposed to use superlative form of verb i.e for example

He is tallest among them all

For two things we use comparitive form of verb i.e

He is taller than him
