As the nearby clubs went out of business, the bar The Three Monkeys now has twice the amount of people that it normally had before.
(A)that
(B)than
(C)more than
(D)than what
(E)as

Can someone explain me the correct use - I am stuck with A ,B , and E .

IMO A.
We should not use than here, because we are not comparing two different things here and also if using "than" then comparison sides won't be parallel.

Hi guerrero,

What is the source of this SC?

Since "people" are countable, the sentence should state "...The Three Monkeys now has twice the NUMBER of....."

This is a common-enough idiom rule that I'd be curious about who screwed it up.
