2nd Attempt.!.Same score !

Hey Everybody

I seem at a loss here, i appeared for the second time today..

got the same score 650, Q45, v 35, ir 2

i dont have a clue what went wrong , i was doing pretty well in the practice , touched 700 two days before the exam , had proper time for all questions and was feeling good about the exam , that is until i saw the score,


i fixed my earlier problems this time around, timing , data sufficiency .

Practice material used- Grockit, OG 13, IR prep tool, GMAC prep tool- all questions.

I have no clue what else i could have / should have done.

Does it make sense to contemplate another attempt os should i just apply.

This is not all that uncommon. It is really tough to say without getting into the specifics. If you target score is 700 (just guessing), then you want to have a couple of full length practice exams that eclipse that number...

Hi Navie,

A 650/Q45 is a solid performance (right around the 80th percentile overall), so you did pretty well.

If your Official Scores are exactly the same and they're considerably lower than your practice CAT scores, then you have to analyze the differences between how you practice and what occurs on Test Day. At this scoring level, the little details matter. Anything that does not "match up" with Test Day could be (and likely is) a factor in your performance.

Here are some things to consider:
1) Did you take the ENTIRE practice CAT every time (including Essay and IR) or did you skip sections?
2) Did you take any of your CATs more than once?
3) What brand of CATs did you use?
4) What time of day did you take your CATs? What time of day was your GMAT?
5) Comparing Test Day to CAT days, what was different?
Etc.

What schools are you planning to apply to? And when? Your 650 might be strong enough for you to apply as is. If you're really not sure though, you might consider working with an Admissions Expert (there is a Forum full of them on this site).
