if n is a positive integer a n^2 IS DIVISIBLE by 72 then the largest pos integer that must divide n is?

a. 6
b.12
c.24
d.36
e.48

qa is b i got d. however 36x36 is 1296 which is divisiible by 72. whats up?

You probably misinterpreted the question.

Given : n^2 is divisible by 72

the least value of n to satisfy the above is 12.

n can also takes values like 24,48,36 etc

For all the above values of n (12,24,36....), 12 is the largest common divisor.
