Notepads and Markers

by gmatrant » Wed Nov 14, 2007 8:46 am
The OA is E.

Lets take case 1:
let Marker =m and notepad =n.

5n+3m =10
given n <1>m=1.33
now 4m +4n =10, this is possible.
hence A is a possible solution.

Have i missed something, does not the statement "$10 is enough" mean "=10". Is this wording the catch in the question???

enough only means leass than or equal to. So for e.g 1 million dollars is enough to buy one I phone.

In this case since a note pad is less than one dollar each it can cost any where from 1 cent to 99 cents.

So u have many possible values for the cost of a marker. Makes sense?
