The GMAT is indeed adaptable. Whenever I answer RC, it proficiently 'adapts' itself to mark my 'right' answer 'wrong'.

This is a modifier problem.

Ask simple question to yourself before answering the question:-

Who is logging the details (as stated in initial statement)?
Answer: Dr.Swenson.

So initial clause should modify "Dr.Swenson" instead of "chimps or other primates".

This rules out options A, D and E.

Between B and C:

(B) is more logical as after logging the details and watching the chimps for several hours, Dr. Swenson leads to some conclusion. i.e. he has come to believe some fact.

So, choose (B).
