addition table

In the addition table shown above, what is the value of m+n?


answer is = 5.......

Can someone please elaborate? This one has be stumped..

m = 4 + z
n = e + y

so now we have:

4 + z + e + y


Looking at the addition table we also see:
e + z = 10

So now we have

4 + 10 + y
14 + y

So now we just need y and we have the solution.

4+ y = -5
y = -9


Finally

14 + (-9) = 5
