Guests at a recent party ate a total of fifteen hamburgers. Each guest who was neither a student nor a vegetarian ate exactly one hamburger. No hamburger was eaten by any guest who was a student, a vegetarian, or both. If half of the guests were vegetarians, how many guests attended the party?
(1) The vegetarians attended the party at a rate of 2 students to every 3 non-students, half the rate for non-vegetarians.
(2) 30% of the guests were vegetarian non-students.

In my opinion, it should be A.

1. Create two double matrices - one for # of people and another for # of burgers
2. Design each of the matrices in the following manner - Column = V/NV/Total ; Row = S/NS/Total
3. Plug in the values that are given (ex. 15 in the total for # of burgers etc)
4. Key input is that in the NS/NV category, each person ate just one burger
5. Establish a co-relation btw burgers and pple
6. Can be solved using info in statement 1, but not 2, Hence A

Please share the OA.

One has to the language of this problem really carefully.

Since only those guests who were neither students nor vegetarian ate one each of the 15 hamburgers,
Number of hamburgers = Number of guests who were neither Student nor Hamburger = 15 (This is the KEY information!)

Now, make a table for each statement as shown below:
