Inequality

if | x - y | > | a + b |

now is it right to open like

x + y > + (a + b ) or x + y > -( a +b ) -> EQUATION 1

OR

+(x + y) > (a + b) or - (x +y ) > (a + b) -> EQUATION 2

which equation is right.... 1 or 2 ?

-->+\-(x-y)>+\-(a+b)
so total 4 eqn will be there

pls post the original q for further help

Depends!

| x - y | and | a + b | are both positive

if x-y is positive and a+b is positive

then the equation is (x - y) > (a + b)

if x-y is -ve and a+b is +ve then

y-x > a+b

if x-y is +ve and a+b is -ve then

x-y > -(a+b)

if x-y is -ve and a+b is -ve then

y-x > -(a+b)

post the question please

there is not as such original ques...

this doubt arises when i see several ques... like

|a+b| = c + d => then two equation arises like

a +b = c +d and a + b = - ( c + d ) in this case no matter whr u put +ve and -ve sign because there is EQUAL TO SIGN b/w them.... so no dilemma occur...

BUT had thr been some other sign like

|a+b| > c + d

then how u will open that ???

whether this way -> a+b > c + d and a+b > - (c + d) ?

OR this way a+b > c + d and - (a+b) > c + d ?

wat u say on this...

THANKS!
