If w, x and y are different positive integers, and wxy = 24, is xy divisible by 6?

(1) wy is not divisible by 6.

(2) x is even.

I would say - A

According to statement 1 -

w y x
1 4 6
4 2 3
1 2 12

wy is not divisible by 6 and xy is.

statement 2 -

you can conclude from the above table by manipulating some values that is it not sufficient.

would go for E

for statement 1,
xy is not divisible by 6 if w=8,y=1,x=3
xy is divisible by 6 if w=1,y=4,x=6
not sufficient

statement 2 :
x=8, y=3, w=1 => xy divisible by 6
x=8, y=1, w=3 =>xy not divisible by 6
not sufficient

combined,
using the example in statement 2 above, not sufficient
hence, E

(1) wy is not divisible by 6.

(2) x is even.
(1)
w x y
3 4 2... xy div by 6? NO
1 8 3... xy div by 6? YES

NOT SUFFICIENT

(2)
w x y
2 4 3 ... xy div by 6? YES
3 4 2 ... xy div by 6? NO
1 8 3
3 8 1

NOT SUFFICIENT

(1) and (2)

w x y
1 8 3 ... xy div by 6? YES
3 8 1 ... xy div by 6? NO

Answer (E)
