PS Dice Roll

Johnny the gambler tosses 6 plain dice. In order to win the jackpot he has to receive exactly 3 times a result of 5 or 6. What are Johnny's chances to win?

I'm not sure what exactly this question is asking. To win does he have to roll either 3 x 5s or 3 x 6s, or roll 3 x 5's or 6's?

Hi dunnec3,

What is the source of this question? I ask because it's poorly-written, it doesn't include answer choices and the question isn't clearly defined (to win, does he need a sum equal to 3(5) = 15 or 3(6) = 18 OR does he need to roll three 5s or three 6s?). You might be better served by practicing with materials that better 'match up' with what you'll face on Test Day.

Apologies, here are the answer choices. It was on a London Business School sample test.

20×(2^2/3^6)

10×(2^3/3^6)

20×(2^3/3^5)

20×(2^3/3^6)

20×(2^2/3^5)
