Hi Guys,
I'm trying to aim high here, but just wanted to know how serious of a chance I have at any of these schools and maybe suggestions on some schools I could look at?
Age: 27, Female, Minority
Undergrad: UC Davis
Major: Double Major Int'l Relations/Trade and Chinese
Combined GPA: 3.4
Handicap:
Academic Dishonesty. I messed up - not that I'm making an excuse but a close family member had some very serious health complications along with negative things going on in my life at the time. That was almost six years ago, and I totally regretted it at the time. Accepted an F and probation. I retook the same course with the same instructor and received an A. I really think that I learned my lesson and moved on, but will it hurt me a LOT for the schools (Top 20) that I want to go to?
Work Experience:
Family business HVAC Mfg - Business Dev (2 years), Google Contract position (1 year), Nonprofit Telecommunications Marketing for a State Organization (3 years)
Career Goals: I've decided that I want to make my name in Marketing/Brand Management. The energy that courses through my veins when I see something in public that I had a part in creating gives me an amazing thrill.
Extra Curricular: Mentor underserved youth, music
GMAT: 590 first try, second try TBD :/
Target Schools: Northwestern (DREAM), NYU, USC, Georgetown, HAAS, Columbia, Indiana, UCLA, UT Austin, UNC
Given the information above, am I totally cracked out? I am committed to applying this year, R2. I feel like I know what I want and I have a decent story to tell. I am a very non-traditional candidate and hoping it will help me (at least a little
). I have a feeling I'll get a lot of indivudals suggesting that I retake the GMAT, and I am. I just don't know if I can handle retaking it again. Do I stand a chance?
Thank you everyone for your honest and constructive comments.
