Material A costs $3 per kilogram, and material B costs $5 per kilogram. If
10 kilograms of material K consists of x kilograms of material A and y
kilograms of material B, is x > y?

(1) y > 4
(2) The cost of the 10 kilograms of material K is less than $40.

A thread already exists for this question, really appreciate if you search before posting questions. I know it is a little more difficult but, it helps you and the forum

A-- 3/kg
B-- 5/kg

10 = x+y
St.1 ) y >4 ie. may be 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 corresponding x values 6,5,4,3,2,1,0
so Insuff.
St.2) cost = 3x+5y <40
--> 3(10-y) +5y <40 --> 30 - 3y +5y <40 --> 30 +2y <40 --> y<5 so obviously x>5 (as x+y =10 )

hence suff...Ans B
