based on the question I have chosen three consecutive odd integer 1,3,and 5, but not sure what is last part of the is asking? Can someone please explain in detail and as simple as possible using plugging in numbers not algebraically? Thanks


If the sum of three consecutive odd integers is k. then. in terms of k, what is the greatest of the three integers?

a) k-6/3
b) k-3/3
c) k/3
d) k+3/3
e) k+6/3

Let three consecutive odd integers be 1, 3, 5.
Then 1 + 3 + 5 = k
k = 9
Substitute k = 9 in the answer choices
a) k-6/3 = (9 - 6)/3 = 1
b) k-3/3 = (9 - 3)/3 = 2
c) k/3 = 9/3 = 3
d) k+3/3 = (9 + 3)/3 = 4
e) k+6/3 = (9 + 6)/3 = 5

So, the correct answer is E.

Is the question asking of the three consecutive odd integers I have chosen what is the greatest value and then go back to the answer choses and find the greatest value in this case it would 5.Is that what is asking Please explain thanks.

Yes, you are right, we have to find the largest of the 3 consecutive integers.

This is a simple AP question

For any AP questions and if the question says that there are 3 numbers involved assume the numbers as a-d, a, a+d
giving the average as a

Since odd numbers d= 2

a+2 is the largest number

here it is k+6/3
