(A) strikes when special tactile hairs on its body are disturbed,
(B) striking when special tactile hairs on its body are disturbed, but
(C) which strikes when special tactile hairs on its body are disturbed,
(D) which, striking when special tactile hairs on its body are disturbed,
(E) strikes when special tactile hairs on its body are disturbed and,


Hi,
I thought the answer should be C) but turned out to be E). If the answer is E), I think there should be AND before holds (so strikes....,and holds can be paralell) .....

CUT THE CRAP is the mantra in SC
I dont remember whether I had shared this SC strat in the forum or not... but you can safely eliminate many clause/ phrases (or whatever they call it ) between two commas or phrases following "of"
... provided that doesnt change the meaning of the sentence. :)

so here in this case CRAP is "after capturing its prey"

I know you cannot eliminate that phrase since it's indeed imp for the meaning of the sentence and its not a good example for me to give this strat ( CUT THE CRAP) here specifically.... still it works.\

A is wrong since the sentence is fragmented and faulty
B is wrong since the word "but" is not needed here
C is again wrong since the sentence appears fragmented and disjointed
E uses the word "and" which is much needed in the sentence. Hence E

E is correct.
conjunction required to join 2 clauses, hence A is eliminated.
B lacks parallelism with striking and holds
C and D have which without a comma preceding it and gives meaning that information following it is not important but actually information is very important for the sentence
E corrects all these
