CR modifiers!!

by papgust » Sat Oct 10, 2009 6:43 pm
Hi All,

As far as CR is concerned, one must admit that CR modifiers (like many, most, all etc.) are so vital in choosing the right answer choice. I'm reading Powerscore CR bible for a week now and my accuracy level in CR is progressing well.

While reading, i understood that the modifiers in stimuli should be logically same as modifiers in the correct answer choice. The test makers are skilled at shifting the modifiers subtly in the answer choices which we sometimes do not notice. I learned in CR bible that (say) if "Many" is mentioned in the stimuli, then the equivalent logically correct modifier in the correct answer choice should be "ALL" and NOT "MOST". Actually, i never knew this before. Until reading this, i thought that "Many" literally means "Most".

Could you all please share the modifier logic similar to Many-All here in this topic? I'm sure that this will help many people including me in this forum.

Was just going through explanation for a CR

"some," "every," "many," can sometimes be used inappropriately in the answer choices. When the stimulus speaks of "some human minds" you can be almost positive that any choice that speaks of "every human mind" or even "almost every human mind" is wrong. "Some" strictly means "at least one"; you can't expand it. By the same token, choices that apply such terms where they don't occur in the stimulus ("more than one" set of rules) should also be rejected.
