shubhendu, no, this is not quite right.

The new Integrated Reasoning section which is being introduced in June 2012 will definitely be scored. They will announce how the scoring will work in April.

What may have confused you is that the IR section will NOT factor into the total GMAT score. That scoring scale will remain the same as it is today, with a total possible score of 800, and individual scores for quant and verbal on a scale of 51 each, which will factor into the total score.

You can think of the IR section more like the AWA, where it will have its own score reported separately (we're not saying that the IR will be on a 6.0 scale like the AWA, as this has not been announced). We are guessing that over time, the schools will be very keen to know what the IR score is, since it's testing such valuable skills in the context of business. At first, they may not weigh it as much in their candidate assessments, only because it's new and they'll need to gather more data.

Hope this helps!!
