confused about GMAT scoring Algo

by bhupender » Sat Sep 08, 2012 4:51 am
Today i took my GMAT Prep test 1 and scored 700...i am not bother about total RAW score however verbal section score is quite surprising....I got only 8 questions incorrect in verbal but scored only 34...In quant with 8 incorrect, I got scale score 50.

Does that means to score 40+ in verbal one has get all questions correct...Have not seen such pattern in MGMAT CATs in which i consistently scored around 40 in verbal with 10-12 incorrect.

Anyone has faced such dilemma ?

Your scores are not based on the number of questions you answer correctly. It is based on the difficulty level of the questions you answer correctly. So, it's quite possible to have 8 incorrect responses and get 40+.
