Verbal still a big issue

by Chutney5493 » Thu Sep 06, 2012 7:39 pm
Hi,

I gave my GMATPrep test and got a score of 650 (Q48,V31). I have been consistently scoring Quant in Q46-48 range and verbal in V31-33 range. How much minimum Verbal score do I need along with a quant score of 46-47 to get 700?
I have about 10 days left for my exam, so should I focus on doing verbal only or doing practice tests to improve my overall score? Timing isn't really a big issue for me. I tend to finish the sections on time. I have gone through OG13 verbal questions. Should I try to resolve them or should I do verbal review questions?

Thanks!

Here you can check here what minimum score you should reach in the verbal section.

As to your last minute practice, I would recommend you to do one test per two days to build up stamina before the exam. With regard to the verbal section, I would advise you to go through a resource which contains not only questions but also theory.

Have you seen the breakdown of your verbal section? Are you struggling with CR, SC or RC?

Thanks Kasia for the link. It was helpful!

06agupta, Most of my problem is in sentence correction. I can solve basic sentence correction questions but as I start getting tougher questions, I start answering them wrong. Also, long RC's are a pain too. Any idea how many long RC's will be in the test? I think there will be 4 RC's total.

I did notice during my verbal exam review that I got 5-6 questions wrong consecutively. I believe that really skewed my score down. I'm using MGMAT OG archer to track my progress for OG questions. I have accuracy of 58% in SC, 62% in CR and 73% in RC for all verbal OG13 questions.

Any suggestions if I should focus on improving my Quant score till 50 (obviously there is some room for improvement) or devote all my time in improving verbal score (only a miracle can turn this score around)?
