(A) This works, using two independent clauses connected by a semicolon to effectively express two related ideas.

(B) This is grammatically correct, but the meaning is a little off, I guess. While an official answer choice would be more clearly wrong, this one is wrong because it incorrectly conveys that the gearbox rather than the car reaches 125 mph.

(C) This one has no main verb, and so no independent clause. If reaching were instead reaches, the choice would work.

(D) This one too is wrong because it conveys that the gearbox rather than the car reaches 125 mph.

(E) The modifier, which results in the car reaching 125 mph in just 12 seconds, seems to nonsensically modify mark. Alternatively one could say that which does not clearly refer to anything.

So the best answer is A.

The subject is 125 mph.

The sentence is in the passive voice.

The missing car was found in the woods. (subject: the missing car)

The issues were resolved in minutes. (subject: the issues)
