Profile Evaluation and Advise Needed+

by mech04 » Wed Oct 24, 2012 1:51 am
Hello,
I am an Indian female with 4+ years experience in Oil & gas industry as piping Engineer.
I did my Bachelors in Mechanical engineering. I was earlier working in India but then changed to some another organization in same industry in Singapore.
Recently, I gave my 2nd attempt at GMAT and got a devastating score of 600 (Q47, V26) although I was going to 700 or above in GMAT preps. I got 590 in my first attempt so not a considerable increase.
I am pretty ok with the quant but verbal is the one that keeps me at a lower side in it although I do not know why my quant score also got lowered.
I have a moderate profile i.e participation in presentations, robotic competitions at college level, debates in colleges, etc.

Please tell me should i go for third attempt. Do the colleges consider the average or the higher score. What are the colleges I can think of for applying with this score.

Thanks.

Yes!!! Go for a third attempt, a fourth and a fifth if you need. Guessing by your work experience, you are pretty young, which means you are in no rush. And the difference between a 600 and even a 660 is colossal, not to mention the difference between a 700. Plus, if you have been testing 110 points higher!! it means that you CAN do it, even if something is not working out.

I think retaking is wise, even if you aren't aiming for the most top of top schools. It will not only give you better chances, but more scholarship opportunities too!

Thanks alot Jon. I was thinking of third attempt but then people told me that some colleges look for the average score of all and so its quite a risk to go for the next attempt.
Now I will surely take a shot at it :).

Thanks again.
