Looking for some general feedback, I would love to apply to the top schools and wonder how good of a shot I have at getting accepted.
Age: 24 (25 at time of application)
Race/Gender: Caucasian Male
Undergrad GPA: 3.7 Brigham Young University, majored in accounting (went to BYU on the top academic scholarship given out for leadership and academic achievement- not sure if this is info is relevant in the application process)
GMAT: 760
Work Experience: Currently working for Ernst & Young in Silicon Valley, two of my main clients being very well known tech and social media companies. Recently became a CPA. I will have 2 years of experience when I apply (hoping to start Fall 2013) and 3 years once I start my MBA program.
Extras: Fluent in Vietnamese and spent a two year service mission teaching free English classes and helping incoming immigrants prepare to pass citizenship tests. I have also recently volunteered to teach early morning religious classes at my church. Enjoy rock climbing, tennis and snowboarding.
I am hoping to apply to the top programs (Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, Chicago, Berkeley,& Duke)with a few backups thrown in as well. However, I know that I will need to differentiate myself through essays. Any advice/pointers? Am I being realistic with my target schools? One of my concerns is that I am not coming out of consulting or i-banking, does this significantly hurt my chances?
Thanks any feedback is really appreciated.
