Ideal GMAT SC study session

Expert replies
by GMAT Kolaveri » Sat Mar 24, 2012 7:37 pm
Duration of the session: 50 minutes ( split into 20 -20 - 10 )

Resources required:

1. Official Guide/Official guide answer explanation given at the end of the SC section.

2. Timer

Other resources

Verbal Review
Any test prep company's explanation to OG questions (Recommend to use Official Guide's solution)

Break-up of the Study session.

First 20 minutes] Take the firsts 10 questions from the Official guide 12ed. Set the timer to 20 minutes and attempt the first 10 questions. While attempting, use POE - Process of elimination on each question. Why POE? Try to complete the 10 questions within 20 minutes.

Next 20 minutes] Allocate the next 20 minutes to read the detailed solution given by OG. Read the entire text given for each answer choice (A,B,C,D,E).

Final 10 minutes] In the next 10 minutes, reattempt the 10 questions. You should be able to get 10/10 correct as you have read the explanation just a few minutes back.

This is the most effective way to practice as well as to learn Sentence correction from OG. In the next study session (in the next set of 10 questions), apply the knowledge gained from the previous sessions. (Compounded learning like compounded interest).

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with 10 OG questions". - GMAT Kolaveri
